The olive warbler (Peucedramus taeniatus) breeds in the mountain coniferous forests of southwest and west central New Mexico south through Mexico to Nicaragua. The olive warbler is about 4.5 inches in length and has a thin, pointed bill and long, thin legs. The male has a rusty orange head, neck, and chest and a black mask over its eyes. Females have a yellowish-gray crown on their heads and on the nape of their necks. The olive warbler is an insectivore. In the northern parts of its range, it may be a short-distance migrator.
