The last speciman was collected in 1901. It has probably been extinct since the 1950s. The pig-footed bandicoot was a small marsupial with orange-brown fur; a long, pointed snout; a long, fur-covered tail; long, rabbit-like ears; and only two functioning toes on its front paws.
