Gymnuridae - butterfly rays

Spiny Butterfly RayThere are 14 species in this family. Butterfly rays have broad, triangular pectoral fins; short, whip-like tails; and no anal fin, dorsal fin, or caudal fin. Some species have a spine on their tails. They are found in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans.
