There are five species of small, slender sharks in this family. Finback catsharks are deep sea sharks. They are found in
warm temperate waters of the western North Atlantic and in the Indian and west Pacific Oceans. Finback catsharks have long, oval, cat-like eyes; two dorsal fins; and
nictitating eyelids. They eat small fish and invertebrates. The tiny
pygmy ribbontail catshark
is the smallest member of this family. It is only 6-7 inches long.
