Tarsiidae - tarsiersThere are five species of small primates in this family. They are all found in the islands of southeastern Asia. They are nocturnal and live in trees. They have long, thin tails; round faces; very short necks; and very large, round eyes. Their hind legs are longer than their forelimbs and they have long fingers and toes. They have toe and finger pads and fingernails on all their digits, except for their second and third toes, where they have grooming claws. They eat insects and small vertebrate animals. |
