Tayassuidae - peccaries

Collared PeccaryThere are three species in this family and they are found in the southwestern United States, Mexico, and Central and South America. They are similar in appearance to pigs, but they are covered in grayish-brown fur. They have sloping foreheads; barrel-shaped bodies; small eyes; and long, mobile snouts. Peccaries are social animals and live in groups that range from a few animals to a few hundred animals. The are omnivores.
